The 18th Vice Ministerial Regular Meeting between the Chinese Ministry of Commerce and the Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry Held in Japan

  

The 18th Vice Ministerial Regular Meeting between the Chinese Ministry of Commerce and the Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry was held in Tokyo, Japan on June 27. The Chinese Vice Minister of Commerce Gao Yan and the Japanese counterpart Hirofumi Katase co-chaired the meeting.

The Chinese side introduced the Belt and Road initiative, the Japanese side introduced “high-quality infrastructure partnership”, and the two sides held constructive talks on the connectivity of Asian infrastructure construction. China required the Japanese side to abide by its international obligations while conducting anti-dumping investigation against butt welding fittings imported from China and totally abandon the surrogate country approach.

The two sides also exchanged views on strengthening bilateral cooperation in environmental protection, modern service industry, intellectual property and auto logistics, as well as regional and multilateral issues concerning China-Japan-ROK FTA, RCEP, and WTO.
