14th Conference of China-Bangladesh Joint Committee of Economics and Trade Held in Dacca

  

On August 22, Vice Minister of Commerce Gao Yan jointly presided over and held the 14th Conference of China-Bangladesh Joint Committee of Economics and Trade with the Senior Secretary (Vice Minister) of the Ministry of Finance of Bangladesh in Dacca. Both sides profoundly exchanged views on topics such as implementing the consensuses reached by the leaders of the two countries on trade and economic cooperation, jointly building the "Belt and Road", deepening trade and investment, assistance, major projects, the cooperation of industrial parks and zones and the construction of free trade zone.

Gao said that China and Bangladesh are close friendly neighbors. Since the establishment of the diplomatic ties between China and Bangladesh 41 years ago, the relationship between the two countries has gone through the international vicissitude, but has always been maintaining a favorable development momentum. The leaders of the two countries contact frequently, the political mutual trust is constantly deepened and the trade and economic cooperation is expanded increasingly. At present, China is the biggest trade partner and importer of Bangladesh and Bangladesh if the third largest trade partner and important project contracting market of China in the South Asian region. China pays high attention to the appeal of Bangladesh on expanding the export to China. China will continue to provide help to Bangladesh within its capacity and continue to encourage Chinese enterprises with strong power and good reputation to invest in Bangladesh, hoping that Bangladesh can create a more convenient investment environment. The China-Bangladesh trade and economic cooperation benefits the two countries and the whole region with broad prospects. China will strengthen the docking between the "Belt and Road" initiative and the development strategy of Bangladesh and promote the bilateral trade and economic cooperation to develop broadly and profoundly.

The Senior Secretary said that Bangladesh pays high attention to the friendly cooperation with China, regarding China as a reliable friend and partner. Bangladesh feels happy about the achievements made by the development of the Chinese economic society, acknowledges China's long time unselfish help and welcomes China to positively participate in the economic construction of Bangladesh. Bangladesh supports and will positively participate in implementing the "Belt and Road" initiative, hoping that both sides can further strengthen the cooperation in fields such as trade, investment and economic technology and jointly promote the trade and economic cooperation between the two countries to obtain a new and bigger development.

After the meeting, Vice Minister Gao and the Senior Secretary signed the Exchange of Notes of China Providing Materials Assistance to Bangladesh between the Government of the People's Republic of China and the Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh.
